1. Our commitment

At The Perinatal Psychiatrist Ltd, we aim to provide safe, compassionate and high-quality psychiatric care. We value feedback from patients and recognise that, occasionally, concerns may arise.

We welcome feedback as an opportunity to learn, improve our services and ensure that patients feel listened to and supported.

2. How to raise a concern or complaint

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can try to resolve your concerns.

You can raise a complaint by:

  • Your name and contact details

  • A description of your concern

  • Relevant dates or details of appointments

  • What outcome you are hoping for

3. Who will handle your complaint?

Complaints will be reviewed by:

Dr Afraa Delvi
Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead

Where appropriate, complaints may be reviewed with input from relevant professional advisers while maintaining confidentiality.

4. Acknowledgement of complaints

We aim to acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 3 working days. We will explain:

  • Who is dealing with your complaint

  • How it will be investigated

  • The expected timeframe for a response

5. Investigation process
We will:

  • Review the concerns raised

  • Consider relevant clinical records and correspondence

  • Seek further information where necessary

  • Reflect on whether improvements can be made

We aim to provide a full written response within 20 working days where possible.

If more time is required, we will explain why and provide an updated timeframe.

6. Our response

Our response will include:

  • A summary of the issues raised

  • An explanation of our findings

  • An apology where appropriate

  • Details of any actions taken or planned to improve our service

7. Confidentiality

All complaints are handled confidentially and in accordance with UK data protection legislation.

Information will only be shared with individuals involved in reviewing or responding to the complaint, where necessary.

8. Complaints involving clinical care

If your complaint relates to clinical decisions, assessment or treatment, it will be reviewed in accordance with professional standards and relevant clinical guidance.

Raising a complaint will not affect your access to care.

9. If you remain dissatisfied

If you remain dissatisfied after receiving our response, you may seek independent advice or refer your complaint to the appropriate external organisation depending on the nature of your concern.

If your complaint relates to the professional conduct or fitness to practice of a doctor, you may contact the General Medical Council.

If your complaint concerns the processing of your personal information, you may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.

10. Learning from complaints
We review complaints to identify opportunities to improve:

  • Patient experience

  • Communication

  • Clinical processes

  • Administrative systems

Feedback from patients helps us continually improve the quality and safety of our service.
